Fury

Fury is a Massive Multiplayer Online game developed by Auran Games (Creators of highly praised Dark Reign).

My role on Fury was Combat Effects including environments and lighting, although there were several “generalist” tasks in between.

We worked with the Unreal 3 Engine during Gears Of War development. We had to develop a lot of pipeline solutions in order to make this title succeed as a next-gen MMO.

One of my achievements on this title was the baking of particle effects to improve frame rates and sync between combat movements.
There was also a lot of shader work done to ensure the in-house game engine “Torus” and UE3 would work seamlessly.

Torus was a low-spec engine geared toward asia market – it was an impressive achievement.

The game was released in 2007 with a huge marketing push in Australasia, however our publishing partners in other continents were falling short of their promises so the game didn’t do very well overseas. This was the common scenario in the games industry between 2006-2010.

We were a rockstar team and still keep in touch. A great experience overall and a tremendous effort on everyone’s part.
